Agronomic Training (GAP)
We enhance knowledge and skills of smallholder farmers in good agronomic practices, climate-smart agriculture, integrated pest management, soil fertility management, and water-efficient irrigation techniques to increase yields and resilience.
School & Community Demonstration Plots
We establish and manage school-based and community demonstration plots that serve as practical learning centres for students, out-of-school youth, and surrounding farming households, instilling a passion for vegetable farming from an early age.
Post-Harvest Handling & Value Addition
We train farmers — especially women and youth — in best post-harvest handling, grading, packaging, storage, and simple value addition techniques to reduce post-harvest losses and increase farm income.
Market Linkages
We facilitate sustainable and reliable market linkages between vegetable farmers and off-takers — including local markets, schools, hotels, supermarkets, processors, and exporters — through farmer groups, collection centres, and digital platforms.
Nutrition Education & Awareness
We promote the consumption of diverse, safe, and nutritious vegetables in schools and households through awareness campaigns, school feeding programs, and community nutrition education to improve public health outcomes.
Resource Mobilization & Advocacy
We mobilize resources from local and international donors, government partnerships, and corporate investors to finance inputs, training, and infrastructure. We also advocate for policies that enable vegetable sector development across Tanzania.
Building a Nourished & Empowered Tanzania
TAVEA aims to cultivate a new generation of agriculturists through student engagement and community outreach. We collaborate with government ministries, research institutions, and international partners to create an enabling environment for vegetable sector development in Tanzania.
