CORE OBJECTIVES
OF THE NGO

  • To enhance knowledge and skills of small holder farmers in good agronomic practices (GAP), climate-smart agriculture, integrated pest management, and soil fertility management, and water efficient irrigation techniques in order to increase yields and resilience
  • To establish and manage school based and community demonstration plots that serve as practical learning centres for students, out-of-school youth, and surrounding farming households, thereby instilling a passion for vegetable farming from an early age.
  • To train farmers (especially women and youth) in best post-harvest handling, grading, packaging, storge, and simple value addition techniques so as to reduce pos harvest losses and increase income.
  • To facilitated sustainable and reliable market linkages between vegetable farmers and off takers (local markets, schools, hotels, supermarkets, processors and exporters) through farmers groups, collection centers, and digital platforms.
  • To promote the consumption of diverse, safe, and nutritious vegetables in schools and households through awareness campaigns, school feeding programs and community nutrition education.
  • To mobilize resources and attract local and international donors, government partnerships and corporate social investors to finance inputs, training, infrastructure (e.g., shade nets, drip kits, packhouses and cold-rooms), and farmers incentives.
  • To advocate for supportive policies and collaborate with government ministries (agriculture, education, health, development), local government authorities, research institutions, and other stakeholders for an enabling environment for vegetable sector development in Tanzania.
